The values of the St. Kitts Nevis Defence Force are the pillars of the philosophy that guide our actions and govern our behaviour. These all-embracing principles direct every aspect of our military duties and also our conduct when dealing with the populace.
A firm allegiance to our Constitution, Federation and to the Force, that commits us as soldiers to protect our Federation and our way of life and if need be, to give up our lives in its defence.
Our proficiency and reliability in all that we do, a sound knowledge of our job and the drive to do it well. It is our persistent search for excellence that rejects complacency and mediocrity and fosters completion of tasks and missions.
Ethics: Ethics is exemplary conduct and moral strength. It enables us to know what is right and what is wrong, and to do the right things at all times. It encompasses honesty and integrity in our dealing with others and demands that we are always fair and just, not condoning unscrupulous behaviour.
Duty: The compulsion for members of the SKNDF to serve our Federation and to execute those tasks and projects ordered. Giving our best for the benefit of our Federation and community. The fulfilling of the responsibilities entrusted to us without fear.
Respect: Our attitude towards others regardless of their rank or status be they military or civilian. Paying particular attention to treat others with courtesy, good judgment, and to provide a quality service.
Commitment: Commitment is the spirit of determined devotion and dedication to a cause or organization. Soldiers will: 1) Uphold and abide by the letter, spirit, and intent of the Soldiers’ Obligation. 2) Strive to set the highest examples of honesty, courage, respect, loyalty, dependability, and sense of devotion to God, country, community and family. 3) Maintain a drug-free lifestyle and influence family, friends, and schoolmates to share this commitment by personal example.
